A recent extract from the Express and Echo local evening newspaper, Exeter

FIVE companies from Exeter are representing the city on the shortlist for the FSB Devon Business Awards 2010 and will hope to claim the £1,000 top prize when the winners are announced next month.
Building services and environmental engineering consultancy the Engineering Design Practice (EDP), based in Pinhoe, is shortlisted for the award for training and development.
Managing director Steve Rysdale said: "We are delighted. It's nice for recognition, as in a lot of companies training is the first thing to be cut, but our training budget is core to our success and we have a continuous improvement programme that will never be cut."
EDP submitted evidence of its commitment to training and the achievements of its staff, including three who have obtained chartered engineer qualifications while working for it.
Steve said “keeping abreast of technological developments in areas like renewable energy was key to the company's ability to serve its customers.”
